Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Watchive collects, uses, stores, shares and protects information when you use the Watchive app and related support pages.

1. Who we are

Watchive is operated by Jack Davies in the United Kingdom. Jack Davies is the data controller for personal data processed directly for Watchive. For privacy questions, data requests, account-deletion enquiries or support, contact watchivesupport@gmail.com.

2. Information Watchive processes

The information processed depends on the features you use and may include:

Watchive does not need to receive full payment-card details processed by Apple, Google or another authorised app-store payment provider.

3. Local storage and cloud synchronisation

Some tracking information is stored locally on your device to make Watchive responsive and usable. When you use account/cloud features, relevant information may also be synchronised to Firebase so that account features, Community features and cross-device data can operate.

4. How we use information

We use information to create and authenticate accounts; provide watchlists, history, progress, statistics, achievements and streaks; operate Community, lists, quizzes, challenges and Watch Together; synchronise account data; deliver notifications; provide Premium entitlements; display and manage advertising for eligible Free users; respond to feedback and support; investigate faults; prevent spam, fraud, abuse and security threats; moderate user content; maintain and improve Watchive; comply with legal obligations; and enforce our Terms and Community rules.

We do not sell users' personal data.

5. Lawful bases

Where UK data-protection law applies, Watchive may rely on: contract where processing is necessary to provide a feature you request; legitimate interests for security, abuse prevention, service reliability, support and proportionate product improvement; consent for processing that requires or appropriately relies on consent, including certain permissions and advertising choices; and legal obligation where processing or retention is required by law.

6. Public and social information

Information you intentionally publish through public profiles, posts, comments, shared lists or other Community features may be visible to other users. Other users may copy or capture information you make public. Only publish information you are comfortable sharing.

7. Images and uploads

If you choose to upload a profile photograph or other image, Watchive may store that selected content to provide the feature. Where supported, system selection tools are used so the app receives the item you select rather than unrestricted access to your entire photo library. You are responsible for having the right to upload content you provide.

8. Notifications

If you enable notifications, Watchive may store device push tokens and preferences so requested reminders and Community notifications can be delivered. You can change notification choices in Watchive or your device settings.

9. Service providers and third parties

Watchive uses or may use third-party services that process information to provide their functions. These include:

Third-party services process data under their own terms and privacy documentation. Watchive only integrates them for functions reasonably connected to the service.

10. Advertising and consent

Free accounts may see banner, native, interstitial or rewarded advertising. Advertising technologies may process identifiers, IP/device/app information, consent signals and interaction information as permitted by applicable law and the user's privacy choices. Where a consent-management flow is required, Watchive provides the relevant choices. Premium is designed to suppress Watchive advertising.

11. Purchases and Premium

Purchases are processed by the relevant app store. Watchive receives only the purchase/entitlement information necessary to provide Premium access and restore eligible purchases. Store operators retain their own transaction and billing records under their policies.

12. Data sharing

Personal data may be shared with service providers where reasonably necessary to operate Watchive, or disclosed where required by law, valid legal process, security/abuse investigation or protection of users and the service. We do not sell personal data.

13. International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the relevant provider/controller arrangements and lawful transfer mechanisms are relied upon.

14. Data retention

Account and cloud tracking data is generally retained while your account remains active. Public Community content remains until it is deleted, removed through moderation, or the associated account deletion process is completed. Support/feedback and limited security or moderation information may be kept for a reasonable period where needed to resolve issues, prevent abuse, establish or defend legal claims, or meet legal obligations. App-store transaction records are retained by the relevant store under its own rules.

15. Account and data deletion

You can request account deletion from Watchive Settings or through the public account deletion page. A verified deletion request is intended to remove the Watchive authentication account and associated personal data that we are not legally required to retain, including private cloud tracking data, profile information and user-generated Community content attributable to the account. Where a shared structure also contains other users' data, your personal association may be removed or anonymised without deleting other users' information.

Deletion is intended to be completed as soon as reasonably practicable and ordinarily within 30 days after the account can be identified and the request verified. Limited information may be retained where necessary for legal obligations, fraud/security prevention or dispute handling.

Deleting a Watchive account does not itself cancel an app-store subscription. Subscription cancellation is managed through the store account that purchased it.

16. Your data-protection rights

Depending on applicable law and circumstances, you may have rights to access personal data, correct inaccurate data, request erasure, restrict processing, object to certain processing, receive certain data in portable form and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Rights can be subject to legal conditions and exemptions. Contact watchivesupport@gmail.com to exercise a right.

17. UK complaints

If you are in the United Kingdom, you can contact Watchive first so a concern can be investigated. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

18. Security

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, misuse or loss. Data transmitted to major service providers is sent using encrypted network connections provided by those services. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed completely secure.

19. Children

Watchive is intended for users who meet the minimum age permitted by the applicable app-store listing, account experience and local law. We do not knowingly seek to process children's personal data contrary to those requirements.

20. Automated decision-making

Watchive does not currently use personal data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on users.

21. This website

These public Watchive support/legal pages are designed as static pages and do not intentionally use non-essential cookies, advertising or analytics. If that changes, this policy will be updated and any required consent mechanism will be added.

22. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Watchive, its service providers, legal requirements or data practices change. The latest public version will be posted here and material changes will be communicated where required.
